DIY Fruit Snacks

Pinterest gave me the idea of making my own fruit snacks, so today I went to the store and bought some zucchini and cherry Kool-Aid. I found a ton of tutorials online and on Pinterest for making fruit snacks with zucchini so I started that way.

So I mixed sugar, Kool-Aid, and water in a large pan. Brought it to a boil and then added my zucchini. I then reduced the heat and let set for about twenty min. Mine is in the dehydrator now, and I will take is out when the pieces are dry to my touch but still squishy. Every tutorial I read had different drying times. Most used the oven to dehydrate, but I am lucky enough to own a nice dehydrator and my oven is full with yogurt anyway.

These smell great and I have lots of the sugar Kool-Aid mix left to make more when I get more zucchini. I found a great tutorial for making jelly fruit snacks that I pinned for later use. Here is a link:

The jelly ones look just like the jelly fruit stuff at the Mexican market here in Woodburn. I bet it's the same thing.
