DIY Photography Backdrop Stand

I found many tutorials around the web for making these, and other photography stands. I really liked this one www.dandelionsonthewall.com, the only thing I changed with mine is buying an extra 10 foot PVC pipe to adjust height if needed.

Also you can ask home depot to pre-cut down some of your pipe, I will just tell you DO ask if you are driving a car!!!
The best thing is it is 100% adjustable. I was thinking today of rearranging so its more tall and not as wide, but if I want to go back to wide I can! I also love that I can take it apart and travel with it. I fits nicely in my closet when I don't use it too!! FYI it was more costly though. Including the tool to cut PVC and clips to keep the fabric up it was about $30-35.

Beach trip

About a week ago we just decided we needed to drive to the beach, so we did. :) I only got two photos but I wanted to share.

Birds of pray show at the library

To cute not to share:)
Our Woodburn area library has had some neat shows this summer for the kids. This one was not in my opinion for the little ones, it was however very interesting for the adults. My four year old spent most of the time playing with her homeschool friends. I got another chance to play with my camera too.

The kids watched nicely at first....but then.....

Such cuteness :) The bird lady had no patience though!

I could not help my self with all the cuties over here.

A great day for a bike ride....

My family spent a day riding bikes at the park. I thought it would be a great time to practice using my camera. I have been learning to use my camera in manual mode. So not all these photos are exposed correctly, and I never managed to get one of anyone ridding a bike either. :)

It was a long ride and hiccup fell asleep.

So we let him rest and fooled around at the park for a bit.

Great day!

Making paper for the first time.

Today we used the paper making kit I found at goodwill. We scavenged the yard for green things to add to our paper, pulled some green glitter, a big tub, all the scaps of paper I could find (junk mail, egg cartin, oops printer paper, and old work sheets), and we set off on our adventure.
I filled the tub less than half full with water.
Tore up some of my scraps of paper. And filled my blinder 1/2 water 1/2 scraps.

Then blended to my liking. After I poured my mix into the water tub.
Then we dipped our deckle/mould into our tub vertically, easeing it into a flat position beneath water/pulp's surface.
Then we lifted our deckle/mould straight up and out of the water, and held it for a min. After out first two times we learned to rock it gently as the water drains. We also learned that with each successive dip, our sheets of paper will get thinner and thinner, and that a smaller tub would have been better in sme ways.
Then we transferred the paper to felt sheets and sponged some of the water out of the sheet through the screen. We did this before pulling the screen up off the paper and felt. Here is where Bizy shined :)

Then we just peeled up our screen and let our paper dry. We are already planning our next batch. :)

Thrift Store Finds :)

So I have been meaning to show off all my awesome finds here forever, but I always forget to take photos of them. For the last three weeks I have taken the pictures, but forgot to blog any of them. I hope I will get better at this...

This week I found a big load of fantastic stuff!:)

What a load huh? Four puzzles, two board games (that are brand new), a jar of breads, and a jar of marbles! The marbles came in an old milk jug that i will use for some other crafty thing. All this for under $20.00! The puzzles and games will be for homeschooling.

Last week I scored these goodies. In the big bag was also a bag of buttons but I added them to my button stash right away. :) I think these trims will be fun on a summer dress or a tank for me or my daughter. I'm inspired!!! And more breads for my little crafty girl. Great deal for under five bucks!!!

The week before that! I found this paper making kit for $2.99. My daughter and I are making our first batch today. She is really excited about this find. Maybe I will take some photos, if I remember :).

Happy forth of July a bit early!

Just finished this dress and hair ties for Bizy body. I know it's not the fourth yet, but with all the hard work put into making something like this she should get to wear it more than once. Little Hiccup's is not left out, but not as much work went into his outfit. He has a white shirt (purchased) with an iron-on on the front. I have not found the right design for his shirt yet either. I feel a little badly he is not getting a fair deal, but maybe when he is four my pattern file will be full of boy patterns. As of right now I have zero!

Well here it is......

I made this with a fat quarter bundle from Hancock fabrics that my husband picked out. I used the T patchwork pattern by Little Blue Boo. My husband actually chose the pattern too. The hair ties are made out of my left overs. Today at church she got lots of compliments on it. :) I am very happy with the way it all worked out.

More to come soon :)

Finally got some stuff done :)

Yesterday I finally got some time to finish some projects that have been waiting for weeks. Especially fun was using this lilblueboo pattern for the first time.

I used an old tank that was to small for the top. For the bottom I used a sheet and some cheep Walmart fabric scraps I had on hand. I love how it turned out!!

For the two shirts I went and bought fabric to match some plain Walmart Tshirts I found on sale for two bucks each. I am sure the white one won't wast very tong :-)

Now I hope i have time to finish the other things I have waiting... I really want to start some summer things for me as well. Who knows if that will happen anytime soon. Homeschooling my four year old and taking care of a nine month old leaves me little time to my self or anything else. :-)
